Nitto tires are made by Toyo, a major Japanese manufacturer that has been selling tires in the U.S. since 1966. Nitto linked with Toyo in 1979. Nitto is involved in drifting, off-road and drag competitions. Its street-legal tires, including its tires for off-roading, are performance oriented. Some of its light truck and SUV lines are rated as high as W, for speeds up to 168 miles per hour, and some have treadwear grades as high as 640. Several of its ultra-high-performance lines have AA ratings for straight-linje wet traction, the highest given.
