The Self-Supporting Run flat technology enables the tire to be driven on after air pressure loss. This technology enables the tire’s performance for 50 miles up to 50 mph in case of air pressure loss. This prevents the vehicle from being stuck on the side of the road, and allows them to safely arrive at a nearby location. Run flat tires cannot be mixed with regular tires.
The Continental 4X4 Contact SSR increases the traction to ease the driving pressure off the tread area. This decreases the rolling resistance, which determines the vehicle’s needed fuel intake to keep the tires in motion. In this manner, the tire reduces the vehicle’s fuel consumption and CO2 emission.
