The Continental ContiSportContact 5P SSR (MOExtended) is a performance and high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. This model is the original equipment tire of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Summer weather traction is guaranteed with this model. The summer Black Chilli compound and the asymmetric tread design enhance the dry and wet weather grip on the road surface. The tread design greatly boosts the traction as the optimal tread elements optimize the model's better rubber-to-road ratio. On the other hand, the compound keeps the rubber flexibility and prevents heat build-up in order to improve the warm temperature performance. The circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning as well, since they prevent water from blocking the surface contact.
The strengthened internal structure of the tire enables the model to maintain the ideal tire shape under the pressure, even when air pressure loss occurs. When air pressure leaves the tire, the structure enables its limited temporary performance for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph. This allows the vehicle to safely reach a nearby location, where the problematic tire can be checked. Run flat tires should not be used on the same vehicle along with regular tires, as their structure makes them heavier.
High speed durability is promoted with this model. The tire combines the Black Chilli compound and the stronger structure to ensure a better high speed performance. The heat-resistant elements of the Black Chilli compound allow the tire to ease pressure off the footprint, while the structure maintains the ideal tire shape under the high speed pressure. The asymmetric tread design ensures the surface contact at all times, which boosts the steering responsiveness and driving stability. This guarantees the driver's better control over the vehicle. The tread design and the Black Chilli compound minimize the braking distance. These elements generate friction during braking, further upgrading the driving safety levels in summer weather conditions.
