The Blackhawk BDL71 is a highway terrain, all season tire manufactured for commercial vehicles. This model is made for the drive axle of the vehicle. Its fuel saving capability comes from its rounded shape and tread depth that reduce heat build-up, while the flat footprint decreases pressure accumulation. These features together reduce the rolling resistance.
The flat and wide footprint ensures slow and even wear. The three center ribs consist of separate blocks that are protected by the two closed shoulder ribs. This also ensures that curbs and rocks can’t damage the tread. The driving pressure is evenly distributed along the tread thanks to the flat footprint. Irregular wear is not something to be concerned about with such a wide and stable tread area.
The Blackhawk BDL71 boasts outstanding all season traction thanks to its detailed tread pattern. The tread blocks in the center are angled with rounded edges and small indents. The zigzag lateral sipes placement on top of the blocks enables the tire to get a stronger grip on the road. There are irregularities on both sides of the shoulder ribs that provide more biting edges for enhanced traction. Due to the shape and alignment of the tread blocks, the tread has two zigzag grooves in the center and two straight ones on both sides. They work together and do an outstanding job by dispersing water and slush that gets in the way.
