The Bridgestone Potenza RE070R is a high performance summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs.
The tire offers great summer weather traction. It combines the summer weather compound with the asymmetric tread design to increase the dry and wet weather road gripping capability. This enables the tire to increase the grip on the road surface with the additional biting edges of the tread pattern, while the summer compound prevents heat build-up and optimizes the rubber flexibility. The tread also features circumferential grooves which prevent hydroplaning. These tread elements channel water from the footprint, maintaining the surface contact and boosting the wet weather traction.
The tread design and the tire's construction work together to increase the controllability. The tread design's continuous center ribs maintain the tire's surface contact which upgrades the steering responsiveness and accuracy to the driver's commands. The stronger structure keeps the structural stability throughout the drive, which improves even the high speed performance. The tread's semi-slick outer shoulder pattern enhances the cornering ability. These tread elements upgrade the lateral stability and boost the maneuvering power. The Potenza RE070R is a run flat tire. The model features reinforced sidewalls and a stronger internal structure that maintains the tire's ideal shape under pressure. This enables the tire to withstand the weight of the vehicle and its passengers. This allows the tire to be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph in case of air pressure loss. As a result, the vehicle will not be stranded on the side of the road after air pressure loss, but can be driven to a nearby location where the damaged tire can be fixed or changed. Such tires are made for vehicles without space for a spare tire. They cannot be mixed with regular tires due to their heavier construction.
Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
